Welcome Event for the PreBachelor Preparatory Semester
An Exciting Second Year for the EDuStart Pilot Project

On Friday, April 12, 2024, the Technical University of Darmstadt welcomed a new group of future students for the second time as part of the innovative PreBachelor pilot programme. The participants of the 2024 summer semester who have just arrived were warmly welcomed and eagerly began their preparatory semester.
A diverse group of 20 international participants from countries such as Turkey, Peru, and Egypt began their PreBachelor adventure – an intensive preparation for a Bachelor's degree programme in engineering at TU Darmstadt. This programme does not only offer a specialised German language course at the and a preparatory mathematics course but also includes study skills training and helpful campus and city orientations to ensure that international participants are prepared academically and organizationally for the upcoming studies. The welcome event at the was a warm encounter for the new participants, both on-site and digitally for those who had not yet arrived in Darmstadt. Exploring the Campus City Center
Afterward, the participants embarked on a sunny exploration tour of the Campus City Center. They not only got to know essential points of contact, such as the , the Mensa City Center, and the International Counter in karo 5, but also discovered the best ice cream parlors in the area and, at the final stop, even familiarised themselves with their seminar room on Landwehrstrasse. A Semester Full of Opportunities
The participants can now look forward to an exciting programme. In addition to the specialised German language course and a preparatory mathematics course, both designed with a focus on engineering disciplines, social and cultural events are also on the agenda. Guided tours of the , “Europe's Gateway to Space,” a visit to the ESA mission control, European Space Operations Centre, workshops, and other highlights await the prospective students. In collaboration with the ETA factory and especially with International Student ServicesTUtor International, social events will be organised including excursions, joint activities, and sightseeing.
Continuation to the Bachelor's Degree Programme
The PreBachelor programme concludes in August with a specialised language examination and seamlessly transitions into the Bachelor's degree programme in the winter semester. Before this transition, participants receive guidance from the on course selection and complete Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB) to ensure that they embark on and complete their engineering studies with the best possible support. course-specific orientation and introductory phases (OSA)
