Prof. Dr. Hans Jürgen Prömel was appointed by the Science Ministry of the State of Hessen to be president of the Technische Universität of Darmstadt for a period of six years, beginning September 29, 2007. Previously he was Vice-President for Research at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Chair of Combinatorics. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of California Los Angeles (USA) and has worked in several positions at the University of Bonn. In November 2008, he was appointed Vice-President for Governance, Human Resources Policies and Management, Organisation in the Executive Board of the German Rectors’ Conference.

Since 2007 he is member of the Executive Board of the Center for Science and Research Management Speyer, since 2009 member of the University Council of Vietnamese-German University in Ho Chi Minh-City and since 2010 member of the Scientific Committee of Lower Saxony.
