X-Weeks Welcome Events

Day 1 – Welcome Day Tuesday, 4 March 2025, 14:00 h
Day 2 – The Essentials Wednesday, 5 March 2025, 14:00 h
Day 3 – Student Life Thursday, 6 March 2025, 14:00 h
Location: BuildingS1|05 Maschinenhaus (opens in new tab) on Magdalenenstrasse 12, Campus City Centre
On all three days, the event will begin in the lecture hall upstairs, room 122. Access is barrier-free (accessible by lift).

Please register to take part in the X-Weeks welcome events. By August, you should have received an e-mail from ISS with your sign-up link. If you haven't .

Please note that participation in the above events is mandatory for all new exchange students.

During Welcome Day, TU Darmstadt will officially welcome you and introduce you to the other exchange students. You will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from the various university services and groups, as well as important contacts, who are organising lots of fun activities for the upcoming semester.

  • 14:00 h: Welcome and Introduction

    Building S1|05, Rooms 22 – 24

At this event, you will receive all the essential information you need as an exchange student during your stay. Find out how to register at your new city, open a bank account and obtain a residence permit in Germany.

When: Wednesday, 3 September 2025, 14:00 h

Where: Campus Stadtmitte, S1|05 Maschinenhaus

Programme

  • 14:00 h: Info Sessions - Good to know, registering with the residents' registration office, opening a bank account, applying for a visa/residence permit
    Building S1|05, Room 122
  • 15:15 h: Consultant Desks – Experts will answer your questions about ISS, Foreigners Office, City Registration and health insurance. Your Overseas and Erasmus Officers will also be there.
    Building S1|05, Rooms 22 – 24

On Day 3, experienced exchange students and student assistants will talk about their own experiences in a panel and give tips for a successful stay in Darmstadt. Learn first-hand about what the city and our university have to offer. After the student panel, you will have the opportunity to discover the campus and get to know other exchange students better.

  • 15:00 h – Campus Quest & Meet-Up at Herrngarten. Discover the campus with our TI Team and get to know fellow exchange students at Herrngarten

The intensive German courses are organised by the Language Resource Centre (Sprachenzentrum – SPZ).

Connect and Feel at Home with TUtor International

Our TUtor International (TI) team is primarily responsible for making sure you enjoy your time here. They organise social and cultural events, among other things. They ensure that your stay is exciting, help you to connect with other students and enable you to quickly feel at home at TU Darmstadt.

TI works closely with the Exchange Student Network (ESN) Darmstadt (opens in new tab) in Darmstadt. They organise events specifically for exchange students.
