The data are collected for basic research in the field of automated driving. The research is carried out in accordance with § 24 HDSIG and Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR (DSGVO). Further legal bases are: §§ 3 | 4 | No. 1 HDSIG.

No personal data is passed on to third parties. Even in the event of an accident/crime, data will only be shared with the responsible authorities by court order due to data protection.

The data will be stored as long as they are required and used in research and development of environmental perception of automated vehicles for training and validation purposes. All personal data will be deleted at the latest at the end of the project.

Right of access, rectification, restriction, transferability of data, disagreement: As we do not identify, recognize or allocate recorded persons within the personal data, we cannot tell you whether you have been filmed or not. Therefore, no changes to the data or its use are possible.

Right of deletion: For the reasons stated above, premature deletion is not possible. In any case, entire data records are deleted after the purpose of the research has been fulfilled, which is why the “right to be forgotten” under Article 17 (3) (d) of the GDPR (DSGVO) is restricted for the duration of the research to achieve the objectives. No: From a scientific point of view as well as from a data protection point of view we do not identify or assign persons in any way. We do not compare the data with databases, face recognition software, personal descriptions or similar. Therefore we ask for your understanding that we do not assign you and that a targeted deletion is impossible. A blanket deletion of entire data sections cannot be carried out, as this would inevitably lead to the research project not being able to be implemented in accordance with GDPR (DSGVO) article 17 (3) (d). The examined algorithms and functions in artificially learned methods would not be equivalent and additionally not scientifically clearly comparable if they always had to be tested with different or reduced data sections.

No: The aDDa project collects and uses the data exclusively for research and support of (partially) automated driving functions. Data is not used to assign or even identify persons, markings or similar. It is neither in our interest to evaluate features that could be used for identification nor to compare the data with databases or personal descriptions.

Research staff or students involved in the project can, if necessary, view individual sections of the data for research purposes – however, the majority of the data is only processed by the computer, without human observation of the data. The respective staff and students are obliged to maintain secrecy and confidentiality of what they see.

No: Today's traffic concept is entirely based on the visual perception (e.g. traffic lights, traffic signs) by humans. In order to capture and process these sources of information also by automated systems, cameras are irreplaceable.

Within the scope of the project, data from radar and lidar sensors, GNSS position data and video data from cameras will be collected for research and verification of the developed functions.

The data is digitally encrypted according to the state of the art already at the time of recording. After a test drive, the data is transferred by employees of the aDDa project via ethernet cable within the network of the TU Darmstadt to a project-internal server and deleted from the data carriers in the vehicle after a maximum of three months. There will be no further copies of personal data on external storage media, USB sticks or similar data carriers. The data is stored on the project-internal server in an access-secured server room in encrypted form and is used for research purposes in the context of function development and function testing with regard to automated and assisted driving. Various methods are used, such as data-driven machine learning. Project staff can view individual sections of the data for research purposes if required – but the majority of the data is only processed by the computer, i.e. without human observation of the data. The respective research staff and students are obliged to maintain secrecy and confidentiality of what they see.

No personal data will be published. If individual sections or single images are to be shown for illustration in scientific articles on suitable platforms, the data will be anonymized in advance (e.g. pixelation of license plates and faces).

Yes: The data is saved in encrypted form both in the test vehicle and on the project-internal server.

No: The personal data will be used exclusively for the above mentioned scientific research purposes. In addition, personal data will only be passed on to third parties if a court order is issued.
