About the Seminar

We all know the feeling of being stressed. University life can be a significant source of stress, especially during exam periods, term papers, and lectures. Various factors can increase the perceived pressure, making it difficult to perform at your best when it matters most. These factors include:

Deadlines and performance pressure

Multiple exams

Financial burdens

Family problems

Short-term stress can actually help you tackle challenges effectively. If adequate recovery follows a stressful period, it is generally harmless.

However, if you constantly feel “on edge,” this is chronic stress, which can negatively affect your health.

If you want to learn long-term strategies to balance academic demands with relaxation, this seminar, supported by TK, is designed for you.

Overview

This program teaches strategies to maintain a healthy balance between academic demands and relaxation. The focus is on stress and self-management, including techniques for:

Time management

Study strategies

Relaxation techniques

Mental strategies

Seminar Plan

The hybrid seminar includes 5 sessions (3 online + 2 in-person) covering:

Relaxation techniques & short breaks

Time, study, and self-management techniques

Coping with procrastination & exam anxiety

Managing perfectionism and other stress-enhancing thoughts

Disconnecting, letting go, and other mental techniques for stress management

Session 1: Sat, Nov 8, 2025 · 10:00 – 17:00 (7h) · In-person, Mensa Stadtmitte, Room “Grenoble” (1st floor)

Session 2: Tue, Nov 11, 2025 · 14:00 – 17:00 (3h) · Online

Session 3: Tue, Nov 25, 2025 · 14:00 – 17:00 (3h) · Online

Session 4: Wed, Dec 3, 2025 · 14:00 – 17:00 (3h) · Online

Session 5: Sat, Dec 13, 2025 · 10:00 – 17:00 (7h) · In-person, Mensa Stadtmitte, Room “Grenoble” (1st floor)

Participants who attend at least 80% of the sessions will receive a certificate of completion, which can be included in future job applications.

Who Can Participate

The seminar is open to students of TU Darmstadt and Hochschule Darmstadt who want to enhance their stress management skills.

Group size: 6–12 participants

Cost

The seminar is free for students, as the Techniker Krankenkasse covers the costs. A refundable deposit of €20 is required. This will be returned at the end of the course if you attend at least 80% of the sessions (maximum of 3 hours absence).
