Abstract:

The performance of forecasting of geopolitical issues largely depends on expert judgement and the associated heuristics and biases. The systematic use of LLMs now gives us the option to supplement expert judgement with a statistical analysis of a sufficiently large number of sufficiently similar cases, promising a markedly higher accuracy.
