Advisory board

The FLOR FOR LIFE team is advised by renowned experts in the fields of fluid mechanics, vascular biology, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering. In addition, we are in close exchange with three industrial partners from the healthcare sector.

Scientific advice

Cláudio Franco, Professor, Universidade de Lisboa

Cláudio Franco heads the Vascular Morphogenesis Lab at ULisboa's Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM). The group aims at understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating coordinated endothelial cell behaviour during sprouting and remodelling phases of the angiogenic process. Cláudio Franco Lab

Sarah Heilshorn, Professor, Stanford University

Sarah Heilshorn is the Director of the Geballe Laboratory for Advanced Materials at Stanford and Associate Chair of the Department Materials Science & Engineering. She leads a research team that focuses on the design of biomaterials that enable regenerative medicine, 3D bioprinting, and personalized medicine. Heilshorn Biomaterials Group

Fredrik Lundell, Professor, KTH Royal Institute of Technology

Fredrik Lundell works with fluid physics from theory to applications. The problems he addresses range from fundamental problems such as how particles move in different flows to novel assembly techniques for biobased materials that utilises this understanding. Fredrik Lundell's Homepage

Catherine Picart, Professor, CEA Grenoble

Catherine Picart is vice-head of the Department of Health at the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Grenoble (IRIG) within CEA's Fundamental Research Division. She is leading the Biomimetism and Regenerative Medicine (BRM) lab. The lab focuses on the engineering of biomaterials to control cell growth and differentiation and the regeneration of bone tissue in vivo, as well as experimental biophysical models of cell/matrix interactions.
