My field of research is fascinating. To laymen I would explain it in the following comprehensible manner:
My research is focused on how to fabricate surfaces with extreme wettability, and based on the fabricated surfaces, to study how to use them in the field such as oil/water separation, drag-reduction, anti-icing, etc.
My most important success in research to date is that:
I developed a new method named surface-tension-driven and gravity-assisted oil-water separation method. Using this method, large area floating oil on the sea can be easily removed and collected.

TU Darmstadt is a very famous university in the world and Prof. Steffen Hardt is a very famous world-class scientist and scholar.
If I were a student today, I would I would study harder but also would take part in more activities.
The perfect balance to a stressful working day are I would go to the gym. After a stressful working day, I often go to the gym to swim and to relax my tense and tired brain.
With the help of my host in Darmstadt I would like to broaden my views and make a definite progress in my research direction. I also hope I can create a long-time collaboration with my host.

We are experts in micro and nanoscale transport phenomena, but we are usually not good at fabricating the required micro- or nanostructures. Dr. Song brings along exactly this knowledge, especially know-how on fabrication of micro-/nanostructured surfaces.
