My research – my communication. Preparatory training for evaluations, pitches, and inspections (July 7th, 2022)

221_PD_KP01

This training focuses on presenting to and discussing with evaluators in the context of inspections and pitches.

Learning Objectives:

After the workshop, participants have a realistic impression of the respective situations and their requirements. They know what they still need to work on. In addition, they have formulated feedbacks and compared strategies. The factors for successful communication in an "emergency“ are solidly anchored.

Contents:

Phase 1: Orientation

Participants learn about communication standards during the occasion. They reflect on their role and their tasks.

Critical and delicate situations are discussed, strategies developed, and experiences compared.

Phase 2: Mock panel and micro-trainings

This practice-oriented phase provides training impulses.

Even before the training, the participants prepare small pitches on their current projects. These mini-presentations form the basis for short discussions with the mock panel (which consists of the remaining participants). There will be a guided feedback.

Sylvia integrates micro trainings into this phase. This content provides a particularly sustainable learning experiences, as the topics are adapted to the group. Everybody can notice the difference between the observed item and the post-training strategies.

Phase 3: Individual coaching

Coachings provide the opportunity to work on particularly sensitive points – points that participants do not like to bring up in the group or that do not fit well into the plenary. There is also room for concerns or questions.

Methods:

  • Micro-presentations and feedback
  • Case studies as groupwork
  • Coaching

Note: The workshop should be as hands—on as possible. For this reason, Sylvia will send a pre-workshop questionnaire so that she will be able to cater for specific requests.
