RMU Social Event: Trip to Marburg (September 28th, 2024)

241_EXP02

The RMU Social Events present a valuable opportunity to explore the Rhine Main region and to get connected with fellow peers from both the host city and the RMU partner universities.

As part of our tour of cultural and historical sites, we’d like to invite you to an excursion to Marburg. During a guided tour (in English), we will get to know important landmarks of the city such as St Elisabeth's Church and the old town up to Marburg's Landgrave's Castle. Important personalities such as St Elisabeth of Thuringia, the Brothers Grimm, Martin Luther, Emil von Behring and Martin Heidegger have lived in Marburg. Most of them were students or teachers at Philipps University, which was founded in 1527. It is the world's oldest university of Protestant origin still in existence.

The guided tour takes about 2 hours and we will be walking uphill a lot!

Additionally, this tour offers an opportunity to network with other early career researchers from the region in an informal setting
