When Do I Apply?
You should plan with a total preparation time of one year. Applications for a stay abroad in the academic year 2019/20 need to be submitted in autumn 2018.
General application deadline is November 30.
Even if you are planning to go abroad in the summer semester 2020, you will have to apply in the autumn of 2018.
The online application will be available from 1 October 2018 until 30 November 2018.
You can ask your departmental coordinator about your department’s deadlines.
Selection and Confirmation
After handing in your documents and fulfilling all of your department’s requirements, the departments decide whether you are selected for studying abroad at one of our partner universities. The departments select the students based on general criteria such as their academic performances, their language proficiency, their motivation of going abroad und their personal eligibility. If you have questions regarding the selection process, please ask your departmental coordinator.
After the departments have finished their selection, they will inform the Unit for International Relations and Mobility and forward the documents for further processing. If you have been selected for a stay abroad, you will receive an email from the Erasmus office at TU Darmstadt and you will be asked to accept your placement (declaration of acceptance).
After you have accepted your placement in the Erasmus+ programme with the declaration of acceptance, the next step will be the application to the partner university.
Application to the Partner University
After having been nominated by the Unit for International Relations and Mobility, you will have to apply at the partner university. It is up to the partner university to decide whether to accept your application for an Erasmus+ stay.
Please find out about the application process and deadlines on the website of the partner university.
Usually, you will be asked to submit a language certificate – make sure you know about the language requirements.
After your successful application at the partner university you will receive a letter of acceptance confirming acceptance at the partner university.
Leave of Absence
You can apply for a leave of absence during your stay abroad at the student secretary.
You apply to your department for the exchange programme Erasmus+. You need the printed version of our Online Application form to apply. If you do not submit the printed form, we cannot nominate you for a stay abroad with Erasmus+.
First, you will have to enter your personal details in the online form and send this document. Your data will be forwarded to the Unit for International Relations and Mobility.
Then, you will have to print your application (PDF document), which you have to complete and submit to your departmental coordinator together with all necessary documents.
Your department is responsible for selecting suitable candidates for the Erasmus+ programme. The departments will forward the documents of the selected students and successors to the Unit for International Relations and Mobility. Your department will inform you whether you have been nominated to take part in the Erasmus+ programme.
