Internet of Things – Smart devices need security

Refrigerator with Internet access, coffee maker with app control, or a smart home that can be completely controlled from a central location – from roller shutters to heating – the Internet of Things is growing more and more, because smart devices offer their users convenience. Who doesn't like to get into a warm bath in the morning and then drink the coffee ordered by app from bed?

As data protection mishaps and data leaks, which are repeatedly reported in the media, have shown, the security of smart devices is sometimes inadequate. This may be acceptable for some people when it comes to their coffee machine, but for most people it is probably quite different with door locks, surveillance cameras or digital children's toys.

Owners of smart devices should therefore pay particular attention to security in order to protect themselves from unauthorized access.
