Scientific Staff Member/ PhD Candidate
We are looking for a candidate either with a Masters or Diploma degree wanting to pursue doctoral studies, or with a doctoral degree wanting to pursue postdoctoral studies.
The position is available immediately, initially limited until 31.12.2020, and associated with the Scientific Computing Group within the computer science Department of the Technische Universität Darmstadt.
You will support the development and operations of scientific high-performance computing in the state of Hesse. To this end, you will directly interact with scientific users of Hessian high-performance computers, participate in scientific projects, and educate HPC users, for example in tutorials. You will interact with the systems staff of the Hessian HPC computers to optimize the use of their systems. The results of your scientifically oriented projects will be disseminated in peer-reviewed publications and HKHLR-internal documentation.
You have a Diploma/masters, or doctorate degree, comparable to a German University degree, and experience in parallel computing (e.g. MPI and OpenMP), programming experience with languages such as C, C++, or Fortran, and experience with the Linux operating system. In addition to your technical qualifications, you are proficient in English and preferably also in German, and are generally interested in scientific high-performance computing and the solution of challenging scientific and engineering problems.
It would be advantageous if you had experience in some of the following topics: Application of program development tools (e.g. debugger, profiler or other program analysis tools, for example for performance analysis) and knowledge in the programming of accelerators (for example with CUDA, OpenCL or OpenACC).
