Hierarchical structuring of magnetocaloric materials with nanometer resolution


In this project, a nanoscale approach to additive manufacturing of magnetic nanosized powders and colloids is developed. A sophisticated laser sintering system based on near field plasmonics is used allowing the sintering of particles with 4 to 20 nm sizes. Feeding mechanisms of the particles by spraying, spin coating and dip-pen technology are tested to construct a 3D printer with 20 nm feature size resolution.
