Ecology and Biodiversity
Description
The English-language Master's programme in Ecology and Biodiversity focuses on researching biological diversity and ecological processes, from the level of individual organisms to complex ecosystems. The English-language programme provides an in-depth understanding of ecological concepts, evolutionary relationships, and the causes and consequences of biodiversity changes in terrestrial and aquatic systems.
A central component of the programme is practical work in the laboratory and in the field. Students learn and deepen their knowledge of methods of ecological data collection, experimental investigation, and statistical analysis. This includes field studies, excursions, laboratory internships, and the use of modern analytical methods, for example, for biodiversity assessment or the investigation of ecosystem functions.
The programme places great emphasis on independent scientific analysis of complex ecological issues. Through research-oriented teaching formats and an extensive research internship, students are enabled to critically evaluate ecological relationships and develop scientifically sound solutions. The subject-specific content is supplemented by content on scientific writing, data analysis, and reflection on social, ethical, and sustainability-related aspects of ecological research. The programme thus specifically prepares students for careers in research, applied environmental fields, or doctoral studies.

1. A degree B.Sc. Biologie of TU Darmstadt (reference programme) or an equivalent degree; 2. proof of English at C1 (GER) level; 3. proof of participation in the mandatory online self-assessment for the programme; 4. passed entrance requirements verfication in accordance with the competences description. |
