Modeling of biological networks

We model in vitro and in vivo processes as networks of reactions, with the nodes of the network being the different types of molecules, and the connections describing reactions, such as binding, transcription, phosphorylation etc. These models are constructed on different levels of detail, depending on the requirements: as stochastic models based on molecule numbers, or as deterministic rate equations based on concentrations, or as boolean models. The purpose of these models is to understand, explain, or even predict the behavior of the network.
