Strong RMU network for brain research
Lecture at TU Darmstadt
2026/02/05
On 9 February 2026, the rhine-main neuroscience network (rmn²) invites interested parties to its annual lecture series.
This year's lecture will take place at the Technical University of Darmstadt. The guest speaker is Prof. Dr. Rainer Goebel from Maastricht University. He will speak on ‘Reconstructing mental images and emotions with 7 Tesla fMRI – from basic research to neurofeedback treatment of depression’.
In his lecture, Professor Goebel will use high-resolution functional imaging of the brain to explore questions such as whether humans can ‘read the contents of the mind's eye’ and decipher emotional cognitive states in real time. The 8th rmn2 lecture will be opened by rmn² spokesperson Prof. Dr. Susann Schweiger from the University Medical Centre Mainz, and Prof. Dr. Ralf Galuske from the Department of Biology at TU Darmstadt will guide participants through the programme.
The rhine-main neuroscience network (rmn²) has brought together brain research in the Rhine-Main metropolitan region to form a strong alliance. Partners include Goethe University with its Interdisciplinary Centre for Neuroscience and Johannes Gutenberg University with its Research Centre for Translational Neuroscience, as well as the Technical University of Darmstadt together with the Institute of Molecular Biology and the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research in Mainz, the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies, the Ernst Strüngmann Institute and the Max Planck Institutes for Brain Research and Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt.
