In the Department of Human Sciences at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Institute of Sport Science, an

Assistant Professorship (W2) for Sport Sociology - Tenure Track -

is to be filled as soon as possible.

The professorship should represent the discipline of Sport Sociology in research and teaching in its entire range and in a qualified way. The future post holder is expected to be competent in the interdisciplinary application and integration of sociological findings regarding to social problems of sport and sport science. The research focuses „sociological theory development“, „competitive sports“ and „health“ are requested. The willingness to closely co-operate with relevant disciplines of the Departments of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as Law and Economics is required.

The professorship will undertake teaching duties in regards to the study programmes „Joint Bachelor of Arts - Sport Science“, „Master of Arts - Sports Management“, the two teaching degree programmes („Teaching at Gymnasien“ and „Master of Education“) as well as the planned „Bachelor of Science - Sport Science“.

Applicants are expected to have an excellent doctoral degree in Sport Sociology or Sociology.

Regulations on the maximum period of scientific activities after the acquisition of the PhD degree as well as all additional requirements for employment are subject to § 64 HHG in the respective current version. The Assistant Professorship is designed as Qualification Professorship as per § 64 HHG. For the position the option for a tenured professorship after a successful tenure procedure is given.

The position is initially limited to six years. Remuneration follows the German W-Besoldung at level W2 Hessisches Besoldungsgesetz.
