The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Technische Universität Darmstadt invites applications for a position of a

Full Professorship (W3) Communication Networks

effective 01.10.2020 or later.

We are looking for an experienced researcher with excellent scientific credentials and international visibility in one or more of the following research areas. They include wireless and wired networks:

  • Time critical networking (e.g. time sensitive networking, low-latency, real-time)
  • Convergence of communication, processing and storage (e.g. computational offloading, in-network processing)
  • Programmability of network function for dynamic, adaptive networks (e.g. software defined networking, network function virtualization, programmable networks)
  • Robust communications and computer networks (e.g. autonomous/self-x-enabled, ultra-reliable)
  • Performance analysis and design methodology for networks (e.g. network calculus)

Emphasis is put on engineering and technological research questions. The professorship is designed as bridge to the Computer Science department. It should play a central role in the priority research area „Internet and Digitisation“ of Technische Universität Darmstadt. The professorship should engage in interdisciplinary research collaboration with other groups in the department, within other departments and with research institutes and industrial partners.

An excellent doctorate degree, pedagogical and didactic skills as well as appropriate professional experiences (habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements) are required. Applicants are expected to participate in academic teaching concerning Bachelor and Master courses.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung". The regulations for employment are specified under §§61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
