The Visual Inference Lab (led by Prof. Stefan Roth, Ph.D.) at the Department of Computer Science of TU Darmstadt is offering a position as
initially limited to two years, with the option of extension.
The Visual Inference Lab (www.visinf.tu-darmstadt.de) carries out leading research in various areas of computer vision with an emphasis on using and developing statistical methods and machine learning approaches. We develop models and algorithms, e.g., for semantic image analysis, motion estimation from videos, object recognition and tracking, as well as image restoration. Furthermore, we work on the foundations of (deep) learning in computer vision. Our open and internationally oriented team has access to state-of-the-art facilities enabling outstanding research. Moreover, we provide many opportunities to work with international collaboration partners from academia and industry through our joint research projects. TU Darmstadt is one of the leading technical universities in Germany and is one of Europe’s strongest institutions in the area of artificial intelligence.
Apart from conducting research in the research areas of the lab, the tasks of the position include co-advising of doctoral students as well as scientific services in research and teaching in close coordination with the team. The fulfillment of these duties likewise enables the scientific qualification of the candidate.
