The focus of your research should be on sustainability assessment, with special emphasis on energy systems and/or resource efficiency and/or circular economy. You should be able to apply and advance the methods of Industrial Ecology, notably Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and/or Material Flow Analysis, as well as scenario analysis and modeling approaches. In the context of research projects, you will investigate current issues in projects with partners from academia, industry and society. You will prepare the results of your research for scientific publication as well as adapt those regarding recommendations for action and policy strategies. You will also develop outlines for future research and take active part in compiling proposals for projects.
The scope of your tasks includes the administration and preparation of courses, specifically on the topic of environmental engineering and energy science and engineering, as part of our bachelor and master's programs on Environmental Engineering and the master's program on Energy Science and Engineering. In addition, you will contribute to organizational tasks at the IWAR Institute.
You should have a degree in environmental engineering and science or in a comparable discipline, a highly qualified Ph.D. degree, and extensive knowledge and experience in the field of methodology and application of Life Cycle Assessment. Based on your own research, you should have scientific expertise in energy systems and/or resource efficiency and/or circular economy as well as experience and an understanding of the societal and political context. You should be experienced in managing third-party-funded research projects and in scientific writing. In addition, you should have already acquired initial experience in leading teams of young researchers. You should have a communicative personality, like working in interdisciplinary teams, and have excellent skills in German and English.
The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate. Opportunity for further qualification (habilitation) is given.
