Research Assistant (Postdoc)

Within the framework of the ERC Starting Grant "3D-FNPWriting", we intend to develop nanoporous materials and interfaces that feature new transport functions for future water management concepts. To achieve this, we are establishing a technology platform based on 3D printing processes and high-resolution microscopy (TIRF) for the production and functionalisation of nanoporous materials.

In this context we are looking for an expert in the development of 3D printing processes for ceramic and polymeric materials. This postdoctoral position is limited to 1 year and serves to establish 3D printing processes for the production of functional, hierarchical mesoporous materials with a precisely controlled architecture. The chemical components required for this are being developed and made available within the scope of a parallel doctorate.

Requirements:

  • Very good scientific university degree and a completed doctorate in chemistry or a related subject
  • Very good knowledge and experience of 3D printing processes, preferably within the context of a doctorate
  • Knowledge in the field of sol-gel chemistry and the use of dyes or photochemical reactions or polymerisations is advantageous, in conjunction with knowledge of fluid imbibition and ionic transport in mesoporous materials
  • Interest in the further development and exploitation of new areas of application for technologies such as 3D printing

The ability to work in a team, outstanding skills in interdisciplinary work, a very high degree of independence, the ability develop your own ideas within the project, experience in guiding scientific work, a very high level of motivation, a very good knowledge of English and the willingness to present your own work in an international environment and submit research proposals are desired. We expect you to coordinate your own sub-project while including all other team members.
