Full Professorship (W3) Aquatic Geochemistry

The Institute of Applied Geosciences is focusing on the research topics water – energy – environment. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced scientist with a research profile that fits into the profile of the institute and strengthens its development.

Research interests could include, but are not limited to:

  • Inorganic geochemistry of aquatic systems
  • Hydrochemical modelling
  • Water-rock-interaction
  • Element fluxes in aqueous systems
  • Impact of mineral weathering on water quality
  • Environmental Isotopes

The successful candidate is expected to establish an internationally visible, externally co-funded research group and must participate in teaching at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level in German and English. Non-German-speaking candidates are welcome. Within three years they are expected to partly teach in German on the bachelor level. Language training support is offered.

The Institute owns modern instrumentation for water, rock, and soil analyses (IC, AAS, ICP-MS, IRMS, CRDS, GC-MS, XRD, XRF, etc.) and for particle characterization (ESEM, TEM, particle counters, etc.). The candidates are expected to further develop the laboratory infrastructure and participate in its organization.

Requirements for this position are a doctoral degree in geosciences or related disciplines, didactic and pedagogical aptitude, as well as the willingness to work in academic self-administration.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
