The Institute for Structural Mechanics and Design in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Technical University of Darmstadt, invites applications for the postion of a
starting as of 1st February 2021 with a fixed-term contract for three years.
We are looking for a scientist to head our Junior Research Group in glass and facade construction. The applicant's scientific profile is based on a pertinent doctorate degree in the fields of structural engineering, structural analysis, dynamics, mechanics in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or materials science. In addition to very good expertise in one of the above areas, we are looking for:
First scientific publications in national and international journals are desired. Experience in the field of statistical methods and their application, e.g. in probabilistic design, evaluation of experimental data or in methods of artificial intelligence are very useful, but not a pre-requisite. The goal is to develop into an independent scientist with international visibility.
The responsibilities includes the joint and independent work on and acquisition of national and international research projects in the fields of glass and facade construction, modeling and simulation, or material science in the building industry at the intersection of theory and experiment. The Glass Competence Center at the TU Darmstadt, which is currently under construction, offers excellent experimental opportunities at the institute. The active and creative participation in the further development of the research area and the experimental equipment of the institute is expected. In addition to the coordination of individual classes, there is a possibility of developing a personal elective as part of the Master's program (M.Sc.) of civil and environmental engineering.
The Technical University of Darmstadt is an autonomous university with broad excellence in research, an interdisciplinary profile and clear focus areas in the engineering sciences. The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering is internationally visible in research and teaching, both nationally and internationally, in this interdisciplinary environment with the future field of glass and facade construction.
The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate. Opportunity for further qualification (habilitation) is given.
The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference. Wages and salaries are according to the collective agreements on salary scales, which apply to the Technische Universität Darmstadt (TV-TU Darmstadt). Part-time employment is generally possible.
Applications should be sent with the usual documents (curriculum vitae including previous research and teaching activities, list of publications, copies of diplomas) to the dean of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Rüppel, firstname.lastname@example.org.
