The Department of History and Social Science invites applications for a position as
at the Institute of Philosophy to be filled by 1 October 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Successful candidates represent the field of philosophy of science and technology comprehensively in research and teaching. The main focus of research is expected to be in respective contemporary philosophy and its systematic problems, as well as in (at least) one of the classical historical fields of the European philosophical tradition. In order to further strengthen the profile of the position and the institute, we especially welcome candidates whose research is compatible with the research trajectories of the Institute of Philosophy at TU Darmstadt.
The ideal candidate is expected to involve her/himself as a scholar of humanities within the research culture of a Technical University. This includes international visibility and networking, the acquisition of third-party funds, and the willingness to cooperate in research and teaching with other disciplines in the Department of History and Social Sciences and as well as with other departments within the university.
The general expectation is that the appointed candidate will be able to teach in German and in English. Therefore, appointees are expected to have a high proficiency in English as well as in German in order to instantly teach as well as interact with colleagues and students.
Applicants are required to have an appropriate university degree, a qualified Dr. phil./PhD in philosophy and a “Habilitation” in philosophy or an equivalent qualification.
The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
