The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Institute of Construction and Building Materials) has an immediate vacancy for the position of a
for a period of 36 months.
The Institute for Materials in Building (WIB) at the Technical University of Darmstadt focuses on research in the field of materials technology, building physics and building chemistry. One field of research is the rheology of cement-based binder systems, where the viscosity and flow behaviour of cement suspensions are determined numerically and experimentally. The research activities in this field focus on the development of sustainable binder systems, whereby the rheological properties are determined via the particle interactions. The research work is part of the DFG priority programme SPP2005 "Opus Fluidum Futurum - Rheology of reactive, multiscale, multiphase building material systems".
Research tasks will focus on the field of numerical modelling of particle interactions of cement suspensions. The tasks include numerical model development and the implementation of colloidal particle-based microstructure models (statistical as well as fully 3D) to predict the rheological behaviour of cement pastes (blended with calcined clays) at rest and in low shear. Furthermore, time-dependent investigations will be carried out to characterise the rheological behaviour and further analyses are planned to determine the particle interactions and flocculation of the cement suspensions.
A completed university degree in civil engineering, chemistry, physics or mechanics is expected. Experience in the field of materials in civil engineering, especially in the areas of rheology, cement chemistry, as well as knowledge of Matlab or computer languages and knowledge of numerical methods is required.
Opportunity for further qualification (doctoral dissertation) is given. The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate.
The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference. Wages and salaries are according to the collective agreements on salary scales, which apply to the Technische Universität Darmstadt (TV-TU Darmstadt). Part-time employment is generally possible.
Applications should be sent with the usual documents, quoting the identification number, to the Dean of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Franziska-Braun-Str. 3, Postfach 10 06 36, 64206 Darmstadt, in electronic form (PDF file) to: email@example.com
