The research group “Systems Biology of the Stress Response” at the Department of Biology at Technical University Darmstadt is inviting applications for one
for the duration of 2.5 years, starting February 2022.
Our research is focused on understanding how human cells sense DNA double strand breaks (DSBs) and activate corresponding counter measures. In the present third-party funded project, we aim to investigate the repair of DSBs during cell cycle progression using quantitative time-resolved analysis of individual living cells and to evaluate new avenues to pharmacologically perturb DNA repair. To this end, we will combine live-cell imaging of fluorescent reporter cell lines with computational image processing and statistical analysis. We will establish new reporter cell lines using Cas9-mediated genome engineering and use these tools to develop - in collaboration with medicinal chemists - novel proximity-based drugs for modulating DNA damage repair.
As part of a dynamic team of international scientists, the successful applicants will work in an exciting and interactive research environment and employ modern technologies in molecular and cellular biology combined with methods from computer sciences. In an interdisciplinary collaboration, he or she will gain insight into drug development in academia and industry. We offer flexible working arrangements and welcome applications from scientist returning from parental leave.
Applicants hold a doctoral degree in the life sciences or closely related disciplines. The project requires experience and interest both in molecular and cell biology techniques such as mammalian cell culture and fluorescence microscopy as well as in computer-aided analysis of quantitative data. Successful applicants will be highly motivated, able to successfully work in a team and possess excellent command of the English language.
The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate.
The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference. Wages and salaries are according to the collective agreements on salary scales, which apply to the Technische Universität Darmstadt (TV-TU Darmstadt).
Please send your complete application documents (detailed letter of motivation, a full CV, transcripts) as a single Pdf document to Jennifer Mahr (firstname.lastname@example.org). Applications containing more than one pdf will not be considered.
