The Distributed and Networked Systems lab (part of the Systems@TUDa Group) at the Computer Science Department of TU Darmstadt is looking for a

Post-doctoral Researcher (all genders) in Data Processing on FPGAs

The starting date is flexible, but preferably before October 2022. The employment is initially limited to 1 year, an extension of the contract is possible.

As a Post-doctoral researcher in the group, you will have the opportunity to carry out your own research and advise Doctoral/Master’s students on topics related to the addressing of the increasing gap between data sizes and CPU performance in the datacenter and clouds, which limits our ability to solve complex problems. Your role will be to help us overcome computational challenges, by looking beyond today's software and hardware architectures – namely, by using FPGAs deployed next to CPUs, in the storage nodes, or inside the network.

Our group offers opportunities for doing cutting-edge research in a vibrant international setting and in collaboration with other leading universities and FPGA and Database companies.

Qualification Requirements

The following qualifications are required:

  • The candidate must have a Doctorate/PhD in Computer Science, Electric Engineering or an equivalent field (or have the defense already planned)
  • The candidate must have extensive prior experience with specialized hardware accelerators (ideally FPGAs)
  • Prior experience with distributed systems, operating systems or databases is a plus

The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate.

The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference. Wages and salaries are according to the collective agreements on salary scales, which apply to the Technische Universität Darmstadt (TV-TU Darmstadt). Part-time employment is generally possible.

The application must be in English and must include: ▪ CV, which must include two professional/academic references (letters of recommendation will be requested, if needed, directly from the references) ▪ a letter of motivation, describing your research profile and future plans ▪ documentation of academic degree(s) ▪ applications should also include a relevant scientific publication written by the applicant

Applications without the above-mentioned documents will not be assessed.
