In the Faculty of Material Sciences and Geosciences at Technische Universität Darmstadt at the department of Applied Geosciences in the Research Group Applied Sedimentology we seek for a

Research Associate/Postdoc (all genders) in Clastic Sedimentology

The position is initially limited to 3 years.

Precondition is a PhD in geosciences or related disciplines.

The applicant should have profound knowledge and research experience in one or several of the following fields:

  • Sedimentology of clastic systems including facies analysis
  • Sediment petrography and geochemistry
  • Provenance analysis
  • Quantification and modelling of sedimentary processes
  • Sedimentary environmental and climate archives
  • Evolution of sedimentary basins

The department offers a wide range of laboratories including preparation, petrophysics, and chemicalmineralogical analytics (Poroperm, IC, AAS, ICP-MS, IRMS, CRDS, GC-MS, XRD,XRF, etc.).

They should actively apply for external research funding and must take responsibility for lectures at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level. A part of the lectures have to be given in German, i.e. basic knowledge of German is required. Language training support is given. The applicant should take part in field campaigns also outside of Europe which may last up to several weeks.

The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate. Opportunity for further qualification (habilitation) is given.
