Full Professor for „Transmission Electron Microscopy“

effective as soon as possible.

We are looking for an outstanding scientist who will represent Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) in research and teaching within the Institute of Materials Science.

The professorship shall strengthen the research foci on Magnetic Materials and Materials for Electronics and Electrochemistry at the Institute of Materials Science and the research fields Matter and Materials and Energy and Environment at the university level. Future collaborations with the Chemistry, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Departments of the university are desirable. An engagement with the collaborative research activities of the Institute is expected, particularly with CRC-TRR 270 HoMMage.

We expect an excellent scientific profile. To prove this, candidates should have documented novel approaches to TEM (e.g. in situ methods, 4D-STEM, Machine Learning). A proven track record of successful grant acquisition, collaboration in international research teams and/or with industry is advantageous.

In addition to excellent scientific credentials, a commitment to teaching is important. It is expected that the candidate will contribute to teaching in the bachelor and master’s degree programs of the Institute of Materials Science. Participation in academic governance is also expected.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German “W-Besoldung” and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 67 and 68 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
