The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Technical University of Darmstadt invites applications for a vacant
commencing in winter term 2023/2024.
The Chair of Materials Mechanics represents the subject in research and teaching and participates within the existing research laboratory of the faculty.
Several of the following research areas are to be continued:
The topics service life, surface finishing and joining technology (single-variety separation) are particularly related to the areas of "sustainability" and "circular economy" dealt with in the entire faculty.
The person has to teach the subject materials mechanics in its breadth in the areas of the basic subjects and the research-oriented special subjects in German and in English language of the undergraduate Bachelor's and Master's programs of the faculty. The application of new forms of teaching and learning is desired.
We expect a scientifically proven personality with excellent specialist knowledge. Practical engineering experience in materials mechanics, preferably acquired outside the university is welcomed. In-depth knowledge is expected in several of the aforementioned research areas for the continuation and expansion of research. The readiness for national and international cooperation and for interdisciplinary work both within the main research areas of the department and with other departments is required.
The prerequisites are a degree in engineering followed by a qualified doctorate at a university, didactic and pedagogical aptitude, a willingness to work in academic self-administration and very good knowledge of German and English. There is an option to acquire and demonstrate the ability to teach in German within one year.
The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 67 and 68 HessHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
