The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, TU Darmstadt, at the Institute of Computer Engineering – Hardware for Artificial Intelligence Group (https://www.hwai.tu-darmstadt.de/) is looking for the following candidate to start as soon as possible

Research Assistant/PhD Position (all genders) for Efficient AI Algorithm Implementation on hardware

for a duration of three years with a possible extension.

Tasks:

  • This new PhD position aims to explore the efficient implementation of AI algorithms, e.g., neural networks, on hardware. Concrete topics of this position can include but not limited to:
    • Optimization of digital circuits for neural networks considering power, performance and area
    • Heterogeneous computing including analog-computing with devices, e.g., memristors and silicon photonic components, as well as digital computing for AI algorithms
    • Optimization of AI algorithms on FPGAs
  • Appropriate participation in administrative tasks, in teaching courses, and in supervising student work is expected.

Requirements:

  • A completed master degree in electrical engineering, computer science or other related disciplines
  • The final grade should not be worse than "Good".
  • Detailed knowledge of digital circuits, and proficiency in C, Python, VHDL/Verilog programming languages.
  • A good understanding of AI algorithms, e.g., neural networks, or is strongly interested in exploring AI algorithms
