Thi Thu Hang Nguyen was the first student to obtain the new Master's degree in Chemistry. She explains why TU Darmstadt was her choice for her Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as for the doctorate she is pursuing now:

“Many of my friends back home in Vietnam studied in Germany. They told me that TU Darmstadt was one of the best universities in Germany and had a very good reputation; that it was even recommended by Albert Einstein. What I find particularly exciting is that we work independently from the very first semester and have to assume responsibility while still being in extremely good academic hands. We have the opportunity to go on work placements, for example, or tutor younger students and by doing so, we can gain experience for our later careers and make some money to cover our studies and livelihood at the same time. Thus for me it was obvious that I was also going to take my doctorate at TU Darmstadt. In the medium term, I do want to go back to my own country Vietnam. With my solid education I will have very good career opportunities as a chemist there.”
