To this day, the single most eminent mind at this university was Erasmus Kittler, the world's founding father of academic training for electrical engineers. He was followed by many other pioneers in their disciplines and remarkable personalities at TU Darmstadt, from Gerhard Herzberg to Eugen Kogon to Günter Behnisch.
