Research Study

Color intervention on sidewalk ground surface influences emotion and perceived restoration?

20.07.2022

Dear students,

our team has been working on a new research study and we need your help. Our goal of this study is to see if color intervention on sidewalk ground surface influences emotion and perceived restoration.

Artificial color painting has been applied in many urban design projects. We would like to explore if the color design could be applied in street sidewalk areas that take up a large amount of urban public space in order to promote a restorative walking experience. If it works, artificial color painting could be a feasible and efficient urban design approach for improving city inhabitants' mental well-being, especially in settings where limited environmental elements could be changed.
