Bereavement group for young bereaved people of the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt

Registration until January 14, 2025

2025/12/09

A new bereavement support group for young people will start in January 2026. The bereavement support group is aimed at young people whose siblings, partners, or parents have died.

Dear interested parties,

starting January 21, 2026, we will be offering a new closed bereavement group for young people who are grieving, and we cordially invite you to join us. As this is a closed group, we will conduct a short introductory meeting beforehand.

In this group, we offer a framework in which young bereaved people can exchange ideas and experiences. Topics such as “coping with grief,” how to live a fulfilling life without the deceased, dealing with days when grief can dominate (Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries of death). What is comforting? Can rituals be helpful? Stress management, dealing with grief at work, and self-care are also central topics, as are personal issues. The focus is on sharing experiences with others in a similar situation.

The group is aimed at young adults who are grieving the loss of a parent, sibling, or partner.

The service is free of charge and independent of religious affiliation.

When and where do our meetings take place?

  • Every two weeks on eight evenings (Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
  • Evangelische Thomaskirche (64287 Darmstadt | Flotowstraße 29)
  • There are a maximum of ten places available. If you are interested in participating in the bereavement group, please register by January 14, 2026.
