IICCSSS 2025: A Summer School for Emerging Cognitive Science Researchers
2025/09/18
This year’s International Interdisciplinary Computational Cognitive Science Summer School (IICCSSS) 2025 took place at the Centre for Cognitive Science in Darmstadt from September 1–5, 2025.

The school brought together students and early-career researchers from computational neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science and psychology to promote interdisciplinary exchange and provide practical exposure to current research. Many attendees were from German cognitive science programs (Tübingen, Osnabrück, Darmstadt), with additional participants from other German universities and international students, including from Italy, Greece and the USA. About 70 students attended, mostly at the Master’s level with some Bachelor and PhD students.
The program mixed invited talks on contemporary research with opportunities for participants to present their own work in talks and poster sessions. During a hackathon, teams worked collaboratively to apply computational methods to real-world cognitive-science problems. The Centre’s labs were opened for guided tours to showcase ongoing projects and methodologies.
The event was co-organized by ELIZA (Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Learning and Intelligent Systems).
