The HUMVIB bridge

The HUMVIB bridge is a full scale experimental footbridge located at the campus Lichtwiese. Its length is 13.24 m. It is supported by an excitable beam structure consisting of two steel I-beams in longitudinal direction that are connected with concrete elements in transverse direction. The bridges natural frequency lies within the span that is excitable by human locomotion. It was developed by the Instiute for Structural Mechanics and Design at TU Darmstadt.

Qualisys Motion Capture System

To analyze kinematic data and for motion capture we use a Qualisys System based on infrared cameras. The cameras can record 3D positions of reflective markers placed on the subject. The key components of the system are the Oqus cameras and the Qualisys Track Manager (QTM) software.

KISTLER forceplates

To measure ground reaction forces we have several portable forceplates that can measure forces up to 5kN.
