2024/12/17
On December 3, 2024, Prof. Dr. Bertolt Meyer, Chair of Work-, Organizational- and Economic Psychology of TU Chemnitz gave an exciting lecture on the social-psychological implications of merging humans and technology.
Recent technological advances create new possibilities for technologies merging with the human body. Examples include cochlear implants, bionic prostheses, exoskeletons, and first attempts into brain-computer interfaces, which can all be characterized as human augmentation technologies (HATs). Taking a social-psychological perspective, Prof. Meyer discussed potential social and societal risks and benefits of HATs against the backdrop of findings from the Collaborative Research Center „Hybrid Societies” where he serves as the spokesperson.
Prof. Meyer’s research focuses on the intersection of technology and society, addressing topics such as workplace diversity, digital transformation, and human augmentation.
His lecture provided a thought-provoking analysis of how these advancements might shape our social and cultural landscapes.
