M+M Symposium

The M+M Symposium is an open format for valuable exchange and free discussions on the broad spectrum of the Research Field Matter and Materials and the three profile topics: Materials Design for Sustainability and Circularity, Nuclear Science and Synthetic Biology. Within the framework of this event series, experimental and theoretical current research, as well as technological developments and challenges in the research field are presented, with plenty of room for constructive dialogue and critical communication. The Symposium provides thus an interface for developing of ideas for new collaborative projects. All members of the Research Field Matter and Materials are cordially invited to participate in this informative event.

Physics for Health

Advanced nuclear physics methods in the production and application of medical radionuclides, current research on heavy-ion biophysics and its translation into cutting-edge hadron therapy for cancer treatment and the emerging field of Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI), a novel imaging technique exploiting the properties of magnetic nanoparticles for medical diagnostics, illustrate how M+M research connects fundamental science with real-world impact — from accelerator-based nuclear physics to next-generation clinical applications.

The host of the 4th M+M Symposium is the Profile Topic Nuclear Physics. The Symposium is dedicated to the fascinating interface between fundamental physics and medical innovation and brings together leading experts to present how nuclear and medical physics are driving advances in diagnostics, imaging and cancer therapy.
