This year's internal retreat took place on October 11 and 12 at the Hotel Contel-Koblenz. It was dedicated to the completion of the first funding period and the preparation of the targeted second funding period.

On the first day, the PhD candidates presented the current status of their work as well as the exact schedule until the completion of their PhD thesis in short talks . Some of our PhD candidates have already submitted their theses or are about to do so, so most of our PhD candidates will finish their PhD by the end of the first quarter 2024 at the latest. We are happy together with our PhD candidates that, despite the turbulence at the beginning of their PhD period due to the Corona pandemic, they are able to complete their work so successfully and in a timely manner.

On the second day, our retreat focused on preparing for the second funding period. Based on the experiences of FP1, suggestions for improvement and strategies for even closer networking within our CRC were discussed, and ideas for colloquium guest speakers, the Industrial Advisory Board and industry collaborations were collected.

The Internal CRC/TRR workshop took place from 12 to 14 October 2022 at the “Westerwald Treff”, Oberlahr. Here the PhDs presented the current status of their work in a poster session and also worked intensively on their entries in the eLab FTW. As guest speaker, Dr. Andrei Rogalev could be welcomed, who talked about “Scrutinizing a ferromagnet with hard X-rays”.

The second Internal CRC/TRR workshop took place from 4 to 5 October 2021 at the “Sportschule Wedau”, Duisburg. As the accommodation was very close to the University of Duisburg, the PhDs from Darmstadt visited the various working groups and their laboratories on October 6 and thus gained an impression of the work of their colleagues at the University of Duisburg.

Due to the Corona situation the first Internal CRC/TRR workshop was held from 28 to 29 September 2020 virtually via Zoom.
