The title of the lecture is “DNA Storage: In theory, there's no difference between ”theory“ and ”practice“. But in practice there is.”.
In 2023 the German Association for Synthetic Biology (GASB e.V) and the Centre for Synthetic Biology were very proud to host the third SynBio World Cafe in Darmstadt. This annual event series brings together key players from academia and indurty to discuss about the current state and the future of Synthetic Biology in Germany.
The symposium on 8./9. September 2023 will present current views on structure/function correlates of ion channel proteins from experimental and computational studies as well as concepts of using this information for designing synthetic channel proteins.
The Graduate School Life Science Engineering second retreat was hold at Darmstädter Haus in Kleinwalsertal in March 2023. The interdisciplinary team, including PhD students, supervisors and guest speakers had a great time discussing science and enyoing the snow.
This year, on the 8th of June, the German Association for Synthetic Biology (GASB e.V) and the Cetnre for Synthetic Biology are very proud to host the third SynBio World Cafe in Darmstadt. This annual event series brings together key players from academia and indurty to discuss about the current state and the future of Synthetic Biology in Germany.

On 1-3 September 2021, the German Association for Synthetic Biology (GASB) held the digital German Conference on Synthetic Biology (GCSB) together with the Centre for Synthetic Biology at TU Darmstadt. The Conference Booklet can be found at https://www.gcsb.info.
The virtual conference takes place from December 1st – 18th and features a selection of world specialists working in the field of Biosystems Design and Synthetic Biology including 6 Nobel laureates. The conference is organized by Stanford University, the University of Warwick, and BioDesign Research.
Bioeconomy is one of the topics of our century. One of the most important questions must therefore also be “How education can be shaped for a sustainable bio-economy?”. The Centre for Synthetic Biology and GASB are seeking answers to these questions in their workshop as part of the Global Bioeconomy Summit 2020.
The Centre for Synthetic Biology wanted to host its opening event at TU Darmstadt on 23-24 April 2020. International lecturers from the field of synthetic biology were invited. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event was canceled.
On May 13 2019, stakeholders from academia and industry discussed the future trajectories of Synthetic Biology. The German Association for Synthetic Biology (GASB e.V.) and the LOEWE cluster CompuGene organized the “SynBio World Cafe” in the Georg-Christoph-Lichtenberg-Haus in Darmstadt. This event brought together representatives from research institutions, corporations, startups and venture capital.
The 15th CMSB conference once again brought together computer scientists, biologists, mathematicians, engineers and physicists interested in a system-level understanding of biological processes, their study and modelling.
The LOEWE Research Cluster iNAPO – ion conducting nanopores – is engaged in the construction of nanoscale sensors modeled after nature. The workshop provided researchers from Materials Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Electrical Engineering the opportunity to interdisciplinary present and discuss the latest research findings and describe emerging technologies and directions in nanopore research.
