Bewerbung und Zulassung

Application and Admissions

We're glad to hear that you're interested in studying at the Technische Universität Darmstadt! The following pages are intended to provide you with an overview of the application process.

We suggest that you first review our Course of studies/degrees to find your preferred course of studies and the department-specific admissions process. The admission process can change from semester to semester (such as due to legislative changes, or new admissions standards that are either introduced for the first time or existing ones that are abolished). Please be sure to check the current respective application period (starting in May or from December) so that you are working with the current applicable process.

The Prerequisites section provides information about which degrees and qualifications (such as the Abitur or vocational qualifications) are sufficient to qualify for university admittance.

How and when can I apply?

The online application system accepts applications for the winter semester from May to July 15 (extended to the start of the classes for some departments/degrees) and for the summer semester from December to January 15.

Who processes my application?

The type of qualification (such as the German Abitur, or a foreign qualification) is the deciding factor. Nationality plays no role. The online application system provides guidance on this point.

Student Services/Office of Student Affairs: If your school transcript/qualification for university admittance came from Germany or from a German school abroad

International Office: If your school transcript/qualification for university admittance came from outside Germany or from an international school (even one located in Germany)

I'm not sure what I'd like to study:

The Central Office for Student Counselling and the department's counselling office can help.

I'm already registered with the Technische Universität Darmstadt:

Please review the material under Study Organization (such as “Changing Majors”, “Masters”, “Doctoral Studies”).
