Minisymposium on Research Area 3 (Thermodynamic-mathematical Analysis)

30 May 2022, 2:00 p.m.

2022/05/30

We cordially invite you to the 2nd Clean Circles Mini-Symposium on 30 May 2022. The meeting will be held at 2:00 p. m. via Zoom. The symposium will feature one talk by a distinguished scientist in the field of thermodynamics and energy storage. It will be followed by two talks on recent advances in the thermoeconomic assessment of iron and the modeling and optimization of logistic networks within Clean Circles (PIs Stephan and Pfetsch). The duration of the symposium is approximately 2 hours, a detailed agenda is provided below. Each part will comprise a presentation followed by a short discussion.

Overview

2:00 – 2:55 p. m.: Carnot-Batteries and the Decarbonization of Coal Power Plants
(A. Thess)

3:00 – 3:30 p. m.: Preliminary Thermoeconomic Assessment of Iron as Energy Carrier in aCircular Energy Economy
(J. Neumann)

3:30 – 4:00 p. m.: Computing the Optimal Logistic Network of 3 Retro-fitted Coal Plants as Example for a Global Iron-based Energy Cycle – a Case Study
(E. Jansen)
