Exchange with policy-makers on Clean Circles in Brussels

Researchers and policymaking professionals from the European Commission discuss technological potential and challenges

Researchers from Rhine-Main Universities and policymaking professionals from the European Commission held two panel discussions on key technologies for the green transition in Brussels. Clean Circles researcher Michèle Knodt presented technologies and solutions for storing energy in iron and releasing it again without emitting CO2.

The event was organised by the Erasmus+ ENGAGEgreen project and the Mercator Science-Policy Fellowship-Programme of the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU). The panels included researchers from TU Darmstadt, Goethe University Frankfurt, University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (Spain) and members of the Representation of the State of Hesse to the EU.

Professor Michèle Knodt (Chair of Comparative Politics and European Integration/Technical University Darmstadt) gave a welcome speech on behalf of the RMU and opened the second panel by introducing technologies and solutions to store energy in iron powder as well as producing electricity out of it without emitting CO2, thereby creating clean circles.
