Glass Processing Machines

A total of eight glass processing machines are used at the GCC. Each machine covers a specific step in the glass supply chain or uses innovative technologies for glass processing. Listed below you will find information on each of the machines available in the GCC.

For cutting glass panes, the GCC has an automatic pattern cutting machine for float glass with magnetic linear drives and a table top that can be tilted by an electric motor. Glass dimensions from min. 700mm x 300mm to max. 3,300mm x 2,550mm can be processed on this cutting system. The glass thickness can vary from 3mm to 12mm.

A manual double-sided glass drilling machine is available at the GCC for a wide variety of glass drilling applications. With the extensive accessories for this machine, glass thicknesses of 3mm to 20mm (single-sided up to 40mm) can be processed. The possible drilling diameters vary from 3mm to 80mm (one-sided up to 250mm).

One of the special features of the GCC is a worldwide unique prototype of a glass 3D printer. This printer offers the possibility to print a wide variety of glass constructions onto a preheated glass plate in a printing area of 300mm x 210mm x 150mm.

The edge grinding machine of the glass process chain in the GCC has six spindles and can be operated continuously at a speed of 0.8m/min to 3m/min. The machine can process glass dimensions from min. 80mm x 80mm to max. 3,000mm x 2,000mm. Depending on the glass size, the machine can process glass thicknesses from 3mm to 19mm.

The Lamipress Vario combines the potentials of overpressure, vacuum and contact heat to form the “flatbed vacuum autoclave” process. With this machine, PVB and EVA interlayers, as well as special film types such as SentryGlass and a combination of different film types can be laminated easily and flexibly. The machine can be equipped with glass dimensions up to 1500mm x 1500mm x 90mm.

Further information and an image of the surface inspection system will be announced soon and will be available on this page.

Further information and an image of the thermal tempering furnace will be announced soon and will be available on this page.

As a further component of the glass process chain, the GCC has a glass washing machine. This machine can process glass dimensions from min. 100mm x 300mm to max. 1,600mm x 3,200mm. The possible glass thickness that can be processed varies from 3mm to 12mm. The machine has four brushes and can be operated at a speed of 1m/min to 5m/min.
