Doctoral candidates at TU Darmstadt may profit from one of the following offers of support:
Ingenium offers doctoral candidates Individual counselling with regard to the following concerns:
- Structuring a doctorate
- Further qualification
- International experience
- Transition to postdoc phase
- Academic and non-academic career planning and perspectives
- Special challenges during the doctorate
Within the Ingenium qualification programme you can participate in a wide variety of events.
The programme is organised in accordance to three doctoral phases. For each of these phases, the programme offers specifically designed workshops, courses and exercises clustered into the following modules: time management, project management, communication and presentation, academic writing, acquisition of third party funding, leadership skills and career advice.
The events are free of charge and voluntary for early career researchers at TU Darmstadt.
Career – Networking – Information
The promotion of networking of early career researchers is an important goal of Ingenium. It includes the linking-up with the scientific community at TU Darmstadt and beyond, as well as with representatives from the industrial and economic sector.
An event programme offers science and career related information and networking events, introduces you to possible future employers and thus supports your career development.
Highlight is the annual welcoming event for new doctoral candidates Impulse – Getting started and connected.
Scholarship to complete the dissertation
International doctoral candidates can apply for a scholarship to complete the dissertation within the combined scholarship and support programme (STIBET). Therewith, international doctoral candidates, for which the completion of the doctorate is in sight and whose initial scholarship runs out in the near future, will be supported.
The scholarships aim at supporting applicants, who face financial difficulties once their initial scholarship ends but can bring good reasons as to why they were not able to finish their doctorate within the duration of their initial scholarship.
Career Bridging Grant
Ingenium supports your next career step after the doctorate with a Career Bridging Grant. The Career Bridging Grant closes financial gaps, e.g. between a doctorate and a postdoc, for candidates currently working at or aiming to work at TU Darmstadt. It provides short-term financial support for highly qualified candidates, who apply for external individual funding with good prospects of success.
Do you remember the many questions you had before starting your doctorate: is a doctorate the right thing for me? What will be expected of me? How do I find a PhD position or a supervisor?
Ingenium offers prospective doctoral candidates a personal exchange about all these questions – and for this we need you! As ambassador for your research field, you share your experiences and insights as a doctoral candidate with interested students and offer advice during our information and networking events.
