On April 23rd, 2024, Dr. Maria Bisele, research associate at the University Hospital Heidelberg, gave an exciting lecture on machine learning for human movement analysis. She presented her research on utilising machine learning to analyse human movement, with a particular focus on the gait patterns of prosthetic users. Her work aims to uncover pattern that can enhance prosthetic design and functionality, ultimately improving the quality of life for individuals with limb loss.

Dr. Bisele's academic journey has been a testament to her dedication and multidisciplinary approach. She commenced her studies with an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in Medical Engineering from the University of Bradford in the UK, followed by a PhD in Biomechanics from Nottingham Trent University. Her expertise was further honed through her tenure as a lecturer at Nottingham Trent University for five years, before transitioning to BG Klinik in Ludwigshafen. In April 2024, she joined the Human Movement Group at Heidelberg University Hospital, where she continues to push the boundaries of her research.
