Award for Yvonne Späck-Leigsnering
2023/12/22
Yvonne Späck-Leigsnering was honored as Young Scientist 2023 by the Werner-von-Siemens-Ring Foundation. The award ceremony took place on December 13 at the Electoral Palace in Mainz.
“Dr.-Ing. Yvonne Späck-Leigsnering from the Technical University of Darmstadt is being honored for the development of key technologies for the construction of a future energy distribution system for renewable energies. One concrete example is the availability of reliable extra-high voltage cables that can be laid underground.”
“Yvonne Späck-Leigsnering researches electromagnetic fields at the Technical University of Darmstadt. She has also recently started working for Robert Bosch GmbH.
Her focus is on the precise, yet reduced, mathematical description and simulation of electromagnetic behavior. Precisely at the interface between theoretical observation and practical application. Yvonne Späck-Leigsnering develops models of everyday devices and applications such as e-bikes or energy transmission systems. These models capture the complex nature of electromagnetic fields in order to simulate them on the computer.
With her research, the energy transition can be technically implemented. It investigates the necessary change in the corresponding technology and infrastructure. The field of vision is comprehensive down to the most important detail. The simulation methods it has developed enable virtual experiments and the optimization of future products. Risk-free, non-reactive and cost-effective.
Yvonne Späck-Leigsnering learns something new almost every day. Through close teamwork, she gains a deeper understanding of the complex interrelationships. The immediate proximity to the applications is particularly fulfilling when she sees how her simulations actually improve products.”
