Celebrating Multilingualism

European Day of Languages at TU Darmstadt

2025/11/03

Discover languages, experience diversity: On 6 November, TU Darmstadt invites all members of the university community and their families to the second edition of the European Day of Languages. From 9:00 to 19:00, a diverse programme awaits visitors in the Lounge and TUbar of Karo 5.

This event is based on an initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission and has been celebrated across Europe since 2001. Its aim is to raise awareness of linguistic diversity and highlight the importance of multilingualism for a peaceful and culturally rich Europe.

The programme includes interactive stations, creative workshops, a language hunt, insights into German Sign Language, and a language café. Unite! will also be present with an information booth, offering insights into the international perspective on multilingualism and mobility. In the evening, the film Flow will round off the day – organised by ESN and the Filmkreis.

The event is part of the TU Darmstadt language strategy, which promotes functional multilingualism across the university.
